Hello, my name is Emily! I’m a 31-year-old mom, wife, and author.
There it is, I’m claiming it. I’ve wanted to be an author for as long as I can remember, and now I’m putting that out into the universe for her to do with what she will.
Since the moment I was old enough to hold a paint brush, or learn to read, or pull the bow across a violin, I’ve been engulfed in the arts. It has never mattered to which facet of the arts a hobby belonged, if it involved creativity then it was probably something I did. However, the written word has stood out to me the most consistently throughout my life. The very first story I ever wrote was a fully illustrated and scotch-tape-bound book in the second grade about my best friend, Dotty, the chihuahua-rat-terrier.
As time went on, I shifted my focus to visual arts, completing my Bachelor’s of Science in Studio Art, with an emphasis in pottery, from Morehead State University in 2016. Though I didn’t pursue a degree in literature, I used the majority of my elective credits to take writing courses offered at my university and the majority of my spare time working on my first novel.
The novel in question has been through so many growing pains and revisions that the original idea is long since buried in a digital recycle bin somewhere, but my dedication to the heart of the story has never waivered. If you’d like to learn more about Between Parallel, and my other writing, please see the writing section of this website.
When I’m not nudging my fledgling writing career to take off, I love nothing more than spending time with my son. Being a mother has been and will forever remain my greatest accomplishment. He is three years old, but it is clear to see already that he was born with my and my husband’s same creative spirit. I spend most of my days feeding his love for books and music and creating.
That’s me. It’s nice to meet you! Thanks for being here.
